The opposition New National Party (NNP) has turned to “psychological warfare” involving the use of a controversial Pollster to win the upcoming general election against Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell and his ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
A well-placed source has outlined various aspects of the plan to THE NEW TODAY with most of the plotters originating from the western side of the island.
According to the source, some in the top echelon of the NNP Leadership are channeling everything including finance to the so-called pollster through one of the NNP candidates contesting a seat in the election in one of the five constituencies in the parish of St George.
“It’s a psychological warfare they are trying to fight (against NDC),” he said.
The source said that the plan calls for Grenadians to come to the conclusion through the Pollster that Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell will lose his seat in St David and that without him Congress will not be able to govern the island.
He pointed out that from information gathered so far, the Leader of the Opposition and current Political Leader of NNP Emmalin does not appear to be engaged in the plot that is unfolding.
He indicated that a particular section of the NNP leadership “are trying to control and create the narratives” leading up to the election in order to defeat PM Dickon Mitchell and Congress at the polls on Election Day.
Some polling done for the NNP in 2025 by a Jamaican outfit associated with the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) of Prime Minister Andrew Holness warned the party that it faced a problem of leadership in unseating Congress.
The source said that although the controversial pollster is known to be discredited, a certain section of the NNP are “pushing him” as part of their ongoing plan being worked out to the point where he “is consistently singing an NNP song” in everything published.
“How could you without having teams on the ground, going around and doing proper polling to tell men down to the “T” seats (that NNP will win) and how much votes they go win in seats … and no election ain’t call?”
The source noted that despite the amount of money and visibility of the Opposition Leader in her rural St Andrew South-east seat, it is quite noticeable that the Pollster did not identify her as one “in the winning slot” on Election Day.
He pointed a direct finger at a certain person in the top brass of the NNP Leadership who is giving the impression that he is not involved with the Pollster but the money is being given by him to the candidate to pass onto him.
“The boy (candidate) that giving him (the pollster) the money – it is not Emmalin ….”, he said.
According to the source, the current NNP Political Leader is not assured of winning her seat against Education Minister David Andrew of Congress and businesswoman Yolanda McQueen of the Democratic People’s Movement (DPM).
He said a key supporter of Pierre in the critical village of Telescope who helped her to win in St Andrew South-east in the 2022 national poll is now giving her support to McQueen.
He added that it was this female political activist “who engineered the narrow win (for Emmalin Pierre) in Telescope in 2022 and now she “is against her – she is for Yolanda, she is working for Yolanda now.”
The individual is said to be employed as a Secretary in the law office of persons associated with DPM.
Congress controls 10 of the 15 seats in Parliament and Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell has until 2027 to call general elections.
