Vacancy Notice: Credit & Recoveries Manager

The Grenville Co-operative Credit Union (GCCU) Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified professional to join its team as its new Credit and Recoveries Manager. GCCU is looking for an individual who is eager to lead and promote a strong service culture within its Credit and Recoveries Department, as it seeks to provide efficient financial services to its members.

Job summary

The Credit and Recoveries Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily departmental operations with a focus on expanding a high‑quality loan portfolio and reducing delinquency below the industry benchmark of 5%. The role will be expected to provide leadership to lending and collections staff, ensure compliance with credit risk management policies (CRMP), and prepare monthly and annual reports.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Staff Management

  • Provide clear direction, set performance goals, and reinforce a strong service culture
  • Oversee Credit Risk–Securities personnel, ensuring they are well-trained, motivated, and capable of resolving member issues in coordination with other departments
  • Ensure departmental personnel remain current with policies, procedures, and regulatory changes
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement corrective actions when necessary

Communication and Coordination

  • Prepare monthly reports with statistical data, forecast, and progress against objectives
  • Produce monthly loan security and disbursement reports in accordance with Credit Union policy
  • Complete additional reports, records, and projects supporting GCCU’s Credit Administration goals

Core Duties

  • Support all GCCU’s Credit Risk functions, including loan securities, insurance assessments, staff supervision, and policy updates
  • Review loan security portfolios for accuracy and provide regular updates to the General Manager and Credit Committee
  • Liaise with auditors, lawyers, and regulators and ensure full compliance with relevant laws and internal policies
  • Manage all loan security documents, ensuring proper recording with internal systems and government entities
  • Ensure collateral valuation complies with IFRS and that all assets pledged are within local laws
  • Ensure collateral types, liquidity considerations, and loan conditions meet credit union policy
  • Support the achievement of strategic and departmental credit risk goals
  • Manage security disputes, compliance matters, and risk assessments in alignment with laws and internal policies
  • Assist in achieving Business Plan targets and gather member feedback for leadership
  • Stay informed about economic trends and market conditions to inform risk strategies
  • Conduct registration analyses, coordinate with external parties, and recommend loan terms aligned with sound lending practices

Minimum Requirements: Qualifications and experience, knowledge, skills and abilities

Qualification (education) and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accountancy and or Business-Related field

Certification in Credit Management, Banking, Loan Appraisal, Credit Risk Management, Credit Union Management or related field

Minimum 5 years’ experience in Business, Finance, Banking or Accounts with specific experience in the Credit Union sector

Knowledge:
Knowledge of financial statutes and regulations

Working knowledge of accounting and loan management software

Awareness of trends and developments in the economy, including interest rate movements and products

Skills (Technical/functional/behavioural):
Excellent leadership and organisational skills

High level of initiative and dedication

Excellent credit appraisal skills

Excellent communication skills

Outstanding customer service and interaction skills

The Grenville Co-operative Credit Union (GCCU) Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified HR Professional to join its team as its new HR Manager. GCCU is seeking someone who is eager to lead and create a positive impact, within its HR infrastructure, as it pursues its Mission to provide efficient financial services to its members.

Job summary:

The Human Resource Manager will be responsible for managing the HR infrastructure, to include the employee cycle, developing and/or maintaining the required plans, programmes, policies, procedures, systems and activities, in a manner that effectively supports the achievement of GCCU’s annual strategic goals and objectives.

Key responsibilities and activities:

  • Develops and implements comprehensive HR Strategic Plans (to include succession planning), geared towards ensuring the HR capacity of the credit union is adequate, to support the execution of the credit union’s strategic goals and objectives
  • Develops and implements appropriate processes and systems to ensure recruitment of the best candidates and the development of all employees to their fullest potential
  • Develops and ensures adherence to HR Policies and Procedures necessary to ensure legal compliance, HR best practice, and the building of healthy cultures
  • Ensures the effective execution of the Performance Management System
  • Ensures the development and maintenance of a comprehensive compensation structure, in line with best practice and the financial industry market standards
  • Manages the administration of all staff benefits
  • Maintains an effective safety and health programme
  • Develops and implements staff recognition programmes
  • Maintains employee records/data
  • Supports department heads to ensure efficient work processes are in place to facilitate excellence in service delivery
  • Maintains effective contact and communication with all employees so as to identify and resolve potential conflict in a harmonised manner
  • Provides advice to the General Manager and Heads of Departments on HR matters, including HR budget allocations

Minimum requirements: Qualification and experience, knowledge, skills and abilities

Qualification (education) and Experience:
Master’s Degree (or similar level qualification) in HRM, BA, or a related discipline, along with at least 5 years’ experience within a mid-level or senior HR Role

Or

A recognised First Degree (or similar level qualification) in the above areas with at least 5 years’ experience within a senior HR Role

An internationally recognised HR certification will be an asset

Knowledge:
Working knowledge of performance management, change management, organisational behaviour, personality types and work styles, diversity management, and industrial relations

Skills (Technical/functional/behavioural):
Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite and Google Suite; working knowledge of HRMs/HRISs

Excellent interpersonal skills such as (communication: written and oral), empathy, conflict resolution/problem-solving, team-building and emotional intelligence)

Excellent leadership and supervisory skills

Strategic planning skills

Excellent time management and organisational skills

Negotiation skills
