- Several Grenadian artistes feature in Jab and Soca categories

- Awards move to Trinidad for 1st Caribbean staging
Grenadian soca will have a sizeable presence when the Caribbean Music Awards (CMAs) are held in Trinidad on Saturday, 19 September, with several of the island’s established and emerging artistes among the nominees.
The 4th annual CMAs will take place at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port of Spain, marking the first Caribbean staging after 3 previous ceremonies in Brooklyn, New York. More than 250 nominees are competing across more than 40 categories.
V’ghn leads the Grenadian contingent with 7 nominations, placing him among the 3 artists tied for the second-highest number of nominations overall. Only Trinidad and Tobago’s Lady Lava, with 9, has more.
The Grenadian presence is particularly evident in the newly introduced Jab categories. V’ghn, Tallpree, Dred Lion, Muddy, Khalifah and Lil Kerry are all nominated for Jab Artist of the Year, while Jab Song of the Year includes Lil Kerry’s “Bury All,” Tallpree and Smokie’s “Do for Do,” Dred Lion’s “Grease It,” V’ghn and Terra D Governor’s “Jab Decisions,” Muddy’s “Payroll Xpert” and Khalifah, MC Straker and Greg Boss’ “Same Boat.”
Mr Killa is nominated for Soca Performer of the Year, while Lil Kerry enters the awards with 2 nominations, following a strong Spicemas season in which “Mayhem” placed him third in the Power Soca Monarch competition before securing the 2026 Road March title.
V’ghn’s nominations extend beyond Jab, including Male Soca Artist of the Year, Soca Performer of the Year, Soca Collaboration of the Year and Soca Impact Award. His collaboration with Terra D Governor, “Jab Decisions,” is nominated in 3 categories. V’ghn, Lil Kerry and Muddy have also been announced among the performers for the ceremony, giving Grenadian soca a presence on the stage as well as among the nominees.
The nominations put several different strands of Grenadian soca — from established names to newer voices — into the regional spotlight on one of Caribbean music’s biggest nights.
