Her Excellency Rachér Croney, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, and recently appointed Ambassador of Grenada to Ireland, completed her first official visit to the Republic of Ireland, engaging senior government officials and advancing Grenada’s trade and investment interests, at one of Ireland’s most significant economic gatherings for the Caribbean and Latin America.

Ambassador Croney attended the Ireland–Latin America and the Caribbean Trade Horizons Forum 2026, held on 13 May at Croke Park, Dublin. The forum was co-hosted by Ireland Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, under the theme Trade, Investment, Prosperity: Growing the Ireland–Latin America and the Caribbean Economic Partnership.

The Trade Horizons Forum convened government ministers, trade promotion bodies, business leaders, investors, and diplomatic representatives from Ireland and across Latin America and the Caribbean. The 2026 edition addressed 4 substantive areas directly relevant to Grenada’s economic development priorities with a focus on:

• Partnership in a Changing Global Economy: Discussions on how small and developing economies in the Caribbean can navigate and benefit from shifting global trade patterns in partnership with Ireland
• Innovation Driving Growth: Examination of how Ireland’s innovation ecosystem can generate new opportunities for Caribbean economies through investment and knowledge transfer
• Technology and Collaboration: Focus on deepening technology-based partnerships between Irish and Caribbean businesses, with relevance to Grenada’s growing digital economy ambitions
• Food and Agriculture Opportunities: Substantive dialogue on agri-food trade potential, featuring leading Irish companies and academic expertise, with clear relevance to Grenada’s agricultural sector and export development

The forum also featured keynote addresses from the Honourable Christopher Sinckler, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, and the Honourable Delano Seiveright, Minister of State for Industry, Investment and Commerce of Jamaica, alongside a welcome message from Taoiseach Micheál Martin, and closing remarks by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland Hon. Helen McEntee TD.

Her Excellency Rachér Croney’s appointment as Ambassador to Ireland plays a key role in strengthening the bilateral relationship with Ireland, and this inaugural visit provided an opportunity to establish diplomatic presence, open channels with key Government counterparts, and position Grenada within Ireland’s growing economic partnership with the Caribbean.

During the visit, Ambassador Croney held engagements with senior Government officials to advance discussions on areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, and development cooperation, which lay the groundwork for a more structured and productive bilateral relationship between Grenada and Ireland in the years ahead.

According to Ambassador Croney, “Ireland presents real opportunities for Grenada and participation in the Latin America and Caribbean Investment Forum ensures that we have a seat at the table and actively participate in shaping the Caribbean SIDS Strategy and potential investment initiatives within our region.”

Ireland is a global hub for technology, pharmaceuticals, agri-food processing, and financial services — all sectors with direct relevance to Grenada’s investment attraction and economic diversification goals. Grenada’s active presence at this forum signals to the Government of Ireland and businesses alike that Grenada is a serious, engaged, and accessible partner.

The work done during this visit, through formal sessions, bilateral meetings, and diplomatic engagement, forms part of a sustained effort by the High Commission in London to ensure Grenada is represented where decisions and partnerships are being shaped.
