The Western Australian Government has given the green light for the establishment of a new St Andrew’s Grammar senior school, marking a major milestone in the Greek community’s long-standing vision to create a modern educational hub in the heart of Perth.

The new campus, which will cater to students from Years 7–12, is expected to operate alongside the headquarters of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia in Northbridge. The development represents a significant step forward for secondary education in the State and is anticipated to deliver substantial benefits to students, families and the wider Perth community.

President of the Hellenic Community of WA, Paul Afkos, emphasised that establishing a school within the city centre “is expected to generate multiple positive outcomes for Western Australia, including the revitalisation of Perth’s CBD through the introduction of a modern secondary school in an area surrounded by universities, transport links, cultural venues and businesses.”

Afkos added that the new institution is also poised to strengthen Perth’s appeal as a destination for international students.

The approval, granted by WA Education Minister Sabine Winton and supported by the Non-Government Schools Planning Advisory Panel, provides the Hellenic Community of WA with the certainty needed to advance detailed planning and development for the new school.

Afkos noted that the decision reflects “the strength and clarity of the vision behind the project,” adding that “this approval reinforces our commitment to creating a vibrant, accessible educational centre in the heart of Perth.”

The approval will remain valid until 1 February 2030, giving the community a secure window for investment, design and construction of a contemporary secondary school aligned with the Northbridge West Revitalisation Initiative.
