Three fugitive brothers surrender to police

On Wednesday morning, they will be brought before the investigating magistrate.

Arrest warrants on charges of homicide and attempted homicide have already been issued against them.

The massive shooting between members of the two families Frangiadakis and Kargakis who were armed with Kalashnikov firearms and fired blindly at people and houses killed two people, each from one family .

More than a dozen people were hospitalized some with serious injuries. Among those hospitalized are also two men suspected of being actively involved in the shooting.

Strong police forces managed to enter the village and halt the shooting and more forces were deployed from Athens.

Police investigation has proved difficult due to the “omerta”, the code of silence that prevails among families in Crete.

While some residents have reportedly already left Vorizia out of fear of a revenge shooting, authorities suspended the school operation throughout the week in order to protect the local children, as they said.

The two families have been in rivalry for long time, local media reported, but the reason for this dispute still remains quite unclear, even though there is strong suspicion that the one family was struggling for power claiming large plots in the village forbidding anyone else to purchase or build a house without their permission.
