Two distinguished graduates with international careers in aerospace engineering and professional football have been inducted into the Oakleigh Grammar Alumni Hall of Fame, with the school celebrating their achievements at its third annual Hall of Fame event.
Held at the N P Nikolakakis Centre for Academic Excellence, the evening brought together alumni, families, staff and community members to recognise the accomplishments of 2026 inductees Asimenia Kousouraki and Apostolos Giannou.
The pair became the fifth and sixth members of the Hall of Fame, which was established to acknowledge alumni who have excelled in their fields while serving as role models for current and future students.
Addressing guests, Oakleigh Grammar Principal Mark Robertson said the initiative reflected the strength of the school community and the lasting impact of an Oakleigh Grammar education.
“Our Alumni Hall of Fame reflects the strength of the Oakleigh Grammar community and the remarkable journeys of those who once walked our corridors,” Robertson said.
“It is a privilege to honour alumni whose achievements not only bring pride to our School but also demonstrate the lasting impact of an Oakleigh Grammar education.”
Head of Marketing Daniel Ware highlighted the continued growth of the Hall of Fame and its importance in fostering strong connections between graduates and the school.
Both inductees are currently based overseas and were unable to attend the ceremony in person. However, guests viewed pre-recorded video messages in which Kousouraki and Giannou reflected on their personal and professional journeys and their ongoing connection to Oakleigh Grammar.
Kousouraki, a member of the Class of 1998, has built a distinguished career in the aerospace sector, spending more than two decades with Airbus Defence and Space in Germany. A PhD-qualified aerospace engineer, she now oversees major investment portfolios and contributes to the development of future air power technologies.
Giannou, from the Class of 2007, has enjoyed an international football career spanning Greece, China, Cyprus, India and Australia. A former Socceroo, he earned 12 caps for Australia and represented the national team at the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
School captains introduced each inductee before commemorative portraits were unveiled by Board Chairman Chris Damatopoulos and Principal Robertson. Family members accepted the awards on behalf of the inductees and shared personal tributes celebrating both their achievements and character.
The evening concluded with a reception for guests, marking another milestone in Oakleigh Grammar’s growing alumni program and reinforcing the lifelong connection between the school and its graduates around the world.
Oakleigh Grammar congratulated both inductees, noting that the Alumni Hall of Fame continues to celebrate alumni excellence while inspiring future generations of students.
