Oakleigh Grammar’s top 2025 graduate Mattea Georges has been recognised at the school’s Academic Awards Assembly after achieving an ATAR of 96.95 and study scores of 45 in both Biology and English.
Now studying a double degree in Biomedicine and Engineering, Georges was named School Dux, an achievement she said came as a surprise but carried deep personal meaning.
“Receiving the call informing me that I was the Dux of Oakleigh Grammar came as a huge surprise; it was an achievement I had never imagined I could reach,” she said in a media release.
“Being named Dux gave me the opportunity to make my pappou, who unfortunately passed in August before the ATAR was released, proud. This was a dream he had for me from the beginning: to do well at school, exceed expectations, and always strive to achieve my best. Throughout the year, he was my strongest supporter and ultimately my greatest motivation to pursue a career in the medical field, helping people as he once hoped I would. “Being Dux of Oakleigh Grammar also meant giving back to a family and community that nurtured and guided me from a young age, always encouraging me to reach my fullest potential.”
Georges was among a group of high-performing students recognised during the assembly, which celebrated the academic achievements of the Class of 2025 and encouraged current students to aspire to strong academic outcomes.
