Students from the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW Afternoon and Saturday Greek Schools at Clemton Park Public School have brought Christmas spirit and cultural warmth to residents of the Greek Orthodox Community Home for the Aged in Earlwood.
Children ranging from Kindergarten to high school visited the aged care facility dressed in festive outfits, performing four traditional Greek Christmas carols that echoed through the common areas and drew residents and staff together.

The performance created an emotional and uplifting atmosphere, with many residents visibly moved as the children’s voices revived memories of Christmases past and life in their villages.
“The moment the children began singing, the entire home lit up,” a staff member said. “You could feel the mood shift to joy and calm. It’s one of the most meaningful visits we’ve had all year.”
Residents also spoke about the impact of hearing the carols in Greek.
“Hearing the carols in Greek took me straight back to my village,” one resident said. “For a few minutes, I felt young again.”
Teachers from the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW Schools attended alongside parents, who expressed pride in seeing the students confidently engage with their language and cultural heritage.
“Seeing our children honour their heritage while bringing happiness to the elders was incredibly moving,” said parent Maria Rontziokos. “It reminded all of us how important these traditions are.”
The visit concluded on a lively note, with students, teachers and parents joining together for a spirited rendition of Jingle Bells, accompanied by bells and triangles, prompting clapping and smiles throughout the room.
