Greek Justice authorities decided on Monday to no extradite fugitive James Dalamangas to Australia

The Athens Court of Appeals’s Publications Department decided not to accept the Greek citizen’s extradition request, choosing to have James Dalamangas tried in Greece.

Thus, all documents regarding the murder will be transferred from Australia, however, this act, although a felony, has been statute-barred.

At the same time, however, possible other violations that James Dalamangas may have committed will be examined.

Beginning of the month, Greek authorities arrested the now 52-year-old Greek-Australian James Dalamangas, accused of the fatal stabbing of another Greek-Australian fellowman in Sydney in 1999.

One of Australia’s most wanted fugitives had been hiding in Greece and lived for over two decades in northern Peloponnese under a false identity.

Seven months in prison

James Dalamangas will allegedly remain in Greek prison for 7 months, due to the sentence he has been sentenced to for other cases.

He is then expected to be released from prison and will not be tried for other offenses that have been statute-barred as 20 years have passed since the acts.
