Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance is preparing a new application called Gov Agri-Wallet that will check the actual presence of a farmer in the field.
the app will combine satellite tracking and mobile phone movement data to prove that a farmer is actually in the field when declaring agricultural activity.
The app is being prepared in cooperation with the Independent Public Revenues Authority (AADE) using this data to pay subsidies from 2026 onward..
This specific application will essentially function as a “watchful eye” over the farmer, monitoring exactly what he does and when he does it, so that what is mentioned in the single payment application can be documented.
According to the Ministry of Digital Governance, the new application, which is intended to replace Agrisnap, is being developed within the framework of Action Plan 2 for the reform of the agricultural subsidies mechanism.
According to the Secretary General of the Ministry, Konstantinos Karantzalos, the application will utilize the single digital geo-spatial map of the country, which is based on high-resolution satellite images. In combination with the data of the Hellenic Land Registry, this will make the eligibility checks objective, accurate and fully documented.
