The Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture hosted the youth as part of the events dedicated to World Environment Day.

The Environmental Supervision Department of Georgia shared the glimpses of the events on its official Facebook Page on June 4, 2026, Thursday. The Department also shared a small note about the events along with its glimpses.

The representatives and students of the Faculty of Agrarian, Natural Sciences, and Technology of Telavi State University named after Yakob Gogebashvili visited the office of the Kakheti Regional Government in Telavi.

Head of the regional government, Ucha Solomnishvili, made young people look at the technological tools that the government uses during the implementation of environmental state control. They include drones, photo traps, night vision binoculars, tools to measure noise, and dust particles in the air. Also, high-performance cars, boats, and so-called kindergartens are used for monitoring in places.

Deputy Head of Administration of the Department, Tariel Iremadze, presented a presentation to students about the activities of the institution, its role in environmental protection, the legislative framework, and the priority areas of environmental policy.

The meeting was held in question-and-answer mode. Professors, teachers, and students were interested in different thematic issues. Information about the department’s strengthening process has sparked great interest, which will include departments in the country, including in the Kakheti region, regional governments, and, thereby, new offices will be added, which is of utmost importance for faster and more effective environmental control.

Environmental Protection Day has been celebrated in different countries of the world since 1973, and it aims to increase society’s awareness and environmental responsibility.

The Ministry of Environment and Agriculture celebrates World Environment Day every year. In 2026, events dedicated to this day were held by the Ministry’s authorities during the week of June 1-5 in different regions throughout the country.

On June 5, as part of World Environment Day, the opening event of the National Plan of Georgia for Adaptation to Climate Change (NAP) project will also be held, a variety of scientific and entertaining activities will be held in the mother tongue kindergarten, and the best teachers will be awarded within the framework of the project “Education for a Green Future”.
