Georgia: Sandro Akhmeteli’s (formerly Akaki Vasadze) rehabilitated street was opened in the Gldani district. The local council worked on the project together with the relevant services of the City Hall.
The mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, inspected the rehabilitated street together with the deputies, Andria Basilaya and Irakli Bendeliani. He also shared the snippets of the rehabilitated street on its official Facebook Page on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
He noted that, “Another infrastructure project has been completed in the Gldani district. On Sandro Akhmeteli Street, there was a very difficult situation.” “First of all, underground communications were renewed, which were amortized and created a serious problem for residential buildings in the area,” he added.
According to the Tbilisi Mayor, “Drainage system, drainage network, replaced water, sewerage, and gas supply networks. Everything necessary has been replaced.”
In addition, electrical transmission lines were installed in underground cable channels. Notably, at the same time, the rehabilitation works of the three squares are underway. “Everything is going to be completely alright here, too. I am very happy that we have implemented another important project, – said Kakha Kaladze.
As part of the works, the drainage network was completely replaced, and asphalt was laid on an area of 15,000 square meters. Before arranging road pavement, Georgian Water and Power company replaced underground communications in the area, and after rehabilitation of the existing networks, the respective companies installed underground cable channels.
In addition, on Akhmeteli Street, LLC “Tbilservi Group” set up an outdoor lighting network and installed energy-efficient LED lamps. 30 units of large-sized trash containers were placed.
The Agency of Transport and Urban Development has separated a lane for public transport, painted road markings and zebra crossings, installed traffic lights, and arranged parking spaces. The waiters of public transport have been set up.
Within the framework of the rehabilitation of Akhmeteli Street, large-scale greening works are carried out by the City Environmental Service. In particular, in the Targa along the road, which has a total area of 3,700 square meters, irrigation systems have been installed, a fertilizer soil mix has been installed, and various types of trees and plants are being planted. At this point, 419 green seedlings have been planted. In addition, grass cover will be laid on the territory.
In parallel, the rehabilitation of three squares near the road is carried out. In total, an area of 5,404 square meters has already been installed with walking paths, outdoor lighting, and irrigation systems, children’s attractions, and landscaping works.
The total cost of the rehabilitation project was 5,327,846 GEL. Besik Kaladze, heads of relevant services of the City Hall, and representatives of the City Council were present along with the mayor of Sandro Akhmeteli Street.
