Tbilisi’s Mayor, Kakha Kaladze, has emphasized that work in the capital will continue with intensity to prevent disruptions and delays caused by heavy snowfall.
Heavy snowfall was experienced in the capital of Georgia, rendering several roads and areas impassable and causing electricity disruptions that left many citizens without power, bringing their daily routines to a standstill.
Mayor Kakha Kaladze addressed challenges caused by heavy rainfall across the capital during a live broadcast, stating that they are placing a priority on clearing the main avenues. He emphasized that work is also being done concurrently on inner roads and in remote places.
“All central streets have been cleared. Both private vehicles and public transport are moving smoothly. However, heavy snowfall has posed some challenges. There are areas where public transport cannot reach, especially in remote territories. Internal roads and dead ends will be addressed later. Naturally, our main priority is the main avenues and thoroughfares, but work on internal roads is also progressing,” stated Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
Tbilservice staff, local government departments, City Hall’s Infrastructure Service, contractor companies, Ministry of Internal Affairs and 112 are coordinating efforts to deliver efficient and timely services to the public. Together, they have been involved in the implementation process of assuring safety for everyone in the capital.
In his address, the municipal head thanked everyone engaged for their uninterrupted effort and promised that they would continue to advance their work around-the-clock.
“This effort will continue without pause. I would thank the Tbilservice staff, local government officials, contractor companies, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 112, and everyone involved in this operation,” said Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
He further urged the drivers to take caution and refrain from driving without winter tires as it may lead to further complications.
Also present during the live broadcast, Deputy Mayor Irakli Bendeliani placed emphasis on their commitment to ensuring public safety. He assured that all hotline requests are being addressed, noting that while it will take long clean all streets immediately, priority is being given to key routes.
“We are clearing central roads and gradually moving to internal streets in a continuous effort. All requests received through the hotline are being addressed. Naturally, it’s impossible to clear every street and alley in Tbilisi immediately, but we are progressing steadily, prioritising key routes,” said Irakli Bendeliani.
Irakli Bendeliani further urged the citizens to directly contact the City Hall Hotline and assured, “We are prepared to keep the city clear and assist residents 24 hours a day.”
