Savannah demonstration demands justice for Linda Davis amid ICE controversy

About 40 people gathered in Savannah’s Wells Park Sunday afternoon to protest the death of Chatham County special education teacher Linda Davis. Members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation organized the demonstration. The crowd chanted Davis’ name, called for justice, and demanded ICE agents get out of Savannah.

Davis was killed when Oscar Vasquez-Lopez, a Guatemalan national, struck her car during a pursuit by ICE agents about a mile from Hesse K-8 School, where she taught. Organizers said they had not been to the neighborhood where the chase took place, and that they chose to gather at Wells Park because it is in a working-class neighborhood.
