Sagarejo Municipality discusses windbreak restoration with local farmers

The Mayor of Sagarejo Municipality, Vakhtang Kakutashvili, held a working meeting with farmers on the issues of restoration of windshield lines under the initiative of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring.

The Sagarejo Municipality City Hall of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on December 10, 2025, Wednesday. The Municipality City Hall also shared a small note about the meeting, along with its glimpses.

Issues of restoration and construction of windshield lines in Sagarejo were discussed at a working meeting held with representatives of the municipality’s local government and farmers.

Paata Chipashvili, head of the Department of Agricultural Land Management and Protection of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring, informed the participants of the meeting about the planned measures of the state related to the restoration of windshield lines.

Farmers learned about the benefits of windshield strips, a complete cycle of recovery-planting that includes custom windshield design, succulent planting, and five-year care stages.

The meeting emphasized that wind cover strips have an important environmental function, protecting soil from wind erosion, which directly affects yield and long-term stability of farms.

Farmers whose land plots border the state-owned windshield lines were involved in the discussion. They spoke about the challenges of security. The focus was on properly engaging local people in preserving the fossil fuels, which is crucial for the success of the project.

In Sagarejo municipality, the windshield line status has been granted 421.91 ha of land area and is registered by the National Agency of Public Register. Registration with wind turbine status is a major prerequisite for starting a wind turbine restoration/construction project.

Deputy Mayor of Sagarejo Municipality – Arsena Tukhashvili and Gela Okinashvili attended the meeting with farmers.
