The Minister of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health, and Social Welfare of Georgia, Mikheil Sarjveladze, is in Germany on an official visit. Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze participated in the 8th German-Eastern European Health Forum during his working visit.

It should be noted that a high-level meeting is being held in Berlin within the framework of the World Health Summit on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The glimpses of the high-level meeting were shared by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health, and Social Welfare of Georgia on its official Facebook Page on the same day.

It is also worth noting that the Georgian Ministry of Health also shared some information related to the high-level meeting, which was held in Berlin, along with its glimpses. According to the information shared by the Ministry, it should be noted that the aim of the Forum, between Germany and partner countries, is to share experience and promote collaboration with decision-makers, experts, and researchers.

Mikheil Sarjveladze took part in a high-level ministerial panel on the topic, “Economic benefits of a strong healthcare sector”. According to the Minister, health is a strategic investment, and strengthening the health care system is not an expense. In his opinion, this is a development strategy that will ensure employment, attract investment, and boost confidence in institutions.

Mikheil Sarjveladze talked about reforms and achievements in Georgia. It was noted that in the country, a payment system with groups attached to diagnosis was installed. By setting reference prices for medicines and direct purchase of innovative medicines from the manufacturer, the pharmaceutical policy has been strengthened.

Notably, Primary health care reform has begun in the country. This year, the World Health Organization awarded Georgia the status of a malaria-free country, which the minister said is clear evidence that consistent investment in public health opportunities protects both people and the economy.
