Gonio Hosts ‘Sounds of Gonio’ Gala Concert

The gala concert -Sounds of Gonio” was held on the territory of Gonio-Apsaros Historical Museum-Reservation. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Adjara Government, Zurab Pataradze, and his family.

The Government of Adjara shared glimpses of the event on its Official Facebook Page on July 29, 2026, Wednesday. A small note about the event was also shared along with its glimpses.

The Prime Minister noted that “Sounds of Gonio” is an important cultural initiative that unites historical heritage and music, promotes creative activities, and strengthens cultural tourism and cultural diplomacy; he said the festival has the potential to go international and host a number of guests from different countries around the world.

“Our goal is to buy a new functional capacity for the Gonio-Apsaros prison and to turn it in one more direction into an active, modern cultural center of the region,” said Zurab Pataradze.

During the evening, prominent works and arias from Georgian operas of famous Georgian composers were performed; the concert program was presented by Batumi State Music Center Symphony Orchestra, a capella, vocal ensemble “Batumi,” and other famous Georgian performers.
With the support of the Adjara government, the Batumi State Music Center and the Adjara Cultural Heritage Protection Agency were involved in the organization of a new large-scale project started by the initiative of the Ministry of Culture.

The evening was attended by Tsotne Ananidze, the Minister of Culture of Adjara; Eliso Bolkvadze, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Georgia; Revaz Nadaraya, representatives of executive and legislative bodies, mayors of municipalities and chairmen of city councils, members of the Georgian Parliament, representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of the Abkhazian government, and others.
