Georgia: The Director of Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, Givi Davitashvili, and the Director General of “Georgian Airports Union” Ltd., Levan Moseshvili, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Maksat Mamitkanov.

The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA) shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on December 5, 2025, Friday. The GCAA also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.

During the handshake meeting, both sides highlighted the growing passenger interest between Georgia and Kyrgyzstan, noting that tourism, business travel, and cultural ties between the two nations have increased in recent years.

The Officials agreed that restoring direct flights would not only simplify travel but also boost economic and people-to-people connections.

At the meeting held at the Civil Aviation Agency, the parties discussed the possibilities of resuming direct flights between the two countries (flights between Georgia and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan were ending for a short time, in the summer of 2021, Bishkek – Batumi – Bishkek airline).

Givi Davitashvili and Levan Moseshvili introduced the Ambassador of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to the positive dynamics of the development of the aviation market in Georgia, as well as the infrastructure projects planned in the country, and measures aimed at improving the aviation standards, which will further contribute to strengthening the operational capabilities of the field.

While talking to the ambassador, the Georgian side expressed readiness to cooperate closely with both the Assembly of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the relevant aviation authority, and interested airlines to promote the process of restoring air traffic.

During the meeting, the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan thanked the Civil Aviation Agency for their technical assistance over the years, including working and training visits to representatives of the Kyrgyz Aviation Authority to share experiences and strengthen their competencies. As Givi Davitashvili noted, the agency is ready to promote close cooperation between aviation agencies in different directions in the future.
