The State Intelligence Services (SIS) has dismissed allegations circulating on social media claiming that one of its officers was involved in transporting non-Gambians to the Tanji registration centre for voter registration.
In a statement issued on 10 April 2026, the SIS said claims linking staff member Abdoulie Bah to the alleged incident are “unfounded” following an internal investigation.
According to the agency, although Bah is an SIS employee, his presence at the Tanji registration centre was solely to register his children, whom the service said are Gambian citizens eligible for voter registration.
“The SIS staff member in question was not involved in the activities alleged in these social media reports,” the statement said.
The intelligence agency also denied reports that it is investigating Omar P. Jallow, a journalist with the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) attached to the Office of the Vice President.
It further rejected claims that Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Seedy Njie, contacted the SIS regarding the matter.
The SIS said no such communication took place.
Reaffirming its mandate, the agency said it remains committed to protecting national security and preserving democracy and constitutional order in The Gambia.
“The SIS will continue to build on the reforms and achievements of recent years, ensuring that our Service remains a pillar of trust, integrity, professionalism, and national pride,” the statement added.
