Senegal defeated The Gambia 3-1 in a lively Senegambia derby at Stade Abdoulaye Wade, leaving fans on both sides thrilled by the action-packed encounter.

The hosts took the lead in first-half stoppage time when captain Abdoulaye Seck rose to head in a corner, giving Senegal a 1-0 advantage going into the break.

Just a minute after the restart, Ibrahim Mbaye doubled the lead, putting the Scorpions under early second-half pressure.

The Gambia fought back in the 51st minute as captain Omar Colley converted Yankuba Minteh’s corner with a fine header, reducing the deficit to 2-1 and sparking hope for an equaliser.

However, Senegal sealed the result in the fifth minute of stoppage time when Lamine Camara finished from close range, making it 3-1.

The match highlighted the competitive spirit of both teams, with moments of brilliance from young talents like Yankuba Minteh, but Senegal’s experience and home advantage ultimately proved decisive.
