The Gambia Police Force (GPF), through Interpol Banjul, has handed over two suspects to the Senegalese National Police in connection with alleged vehicle theft cases.

The suspects, identified as Hadim Gaye and Serign Mbakeh Jobe, were handed over at the Amdalai border on Monday following a request from INTERPOL Dakar, which had sought assistance in locating and arresting them after they reportedly fled into The Gambia.

Police said the suspects were initially intercepted by officers of the Tourism Security Unit (TSU) before being transferred to Interpol Banjul for processing and coordination of their return.

The handover was carried out in accordance with cross-border policing procedures to allow Senegalese authorities to proceed with further investigations and possible prosecution.

The GPF said the operation highlights continued cooperation between The Gambia and Senegal, through INTERPOL, in tackling transnational crime and strengthening regional security.
