President Adama Barrow has called on all political parties, candidates, and supporters to run their campaigns with peace, tolerance, and mutual respect, as the country approaches the 2026 presidential election.

Speaking in his State of the Nation Address, Barrow stressed that elections are a cornerstone of Gambian democracy and must strengthen, not divide, the nation.

He said his government, alongside the Independent Electoral Commission and other institutions, is fully committed to ensuring the polls are conducted peacefully, transparently, and credibly.

“I urge every Gambian to uphold the values of unity, dialogue, and national cohesion so that the outcome will reflect the will of the people and further consolidate our democratic gains,” Barrow said.
