The Gambia Immigration Department has promoted 158 junior officers, marking another step in efforts to reward performance and strengthen the service.

Director General Ebrima Mboob announced the promotions on Wednesday, confirming that the officers have moved from the rank of Assistant Immigration Control Officer to Chief Inspector.

The move comes amid ongoing reforms within the department aimed at improving efficiency and motivating personnel across the ranks.

Officials say the exercise reflects a growing emphasis on merit and dedication in career progression.

The latest batch adds to hundreds of officers who benefited from similar promotions last year, highlighting a sustained drive to recognise commitment and boost morale within the institution.

Authorities described the promotions as a reward for discipline, hard work, and loyalty to national service, noting that the officers have demonstrated readiness to take on greater responsibilities.

The newly promoted officers have been urged to maintain high professional standards and justify the confidence placed in them as they step into their new roles.
