Nepal: How are the hundreds of victims from the floods being identified?

#Nepal faces a major challenge: identifying the remains that have been found after the #flood that tore through part of the country on August 26, some of which are in an advanced state of decomposition. For #health reasons, the unidentified bodies have begun to be buried. Before each #burial, #DNA samples are taken and an identification number is assigned to each set of remains. Relatives of those reported missing can visit DNA collection centres to provide a sample. Their genetic profile can then be compared with that of the bodies found, in the hope of identifying them. FRANCE 24’s correspondents visited one such centre, set up within the #police #hospital in #Kathmandu.
