Some Finnish Cities Implement Face-Covering Restrictions in Schools for Safety and Recognition | Finland Today | News in English

Some large Finnish cities have policies restricting face-covering accessories in schools to ensure students are recognizable for safety, social and educational reasons, according to the national broadcaster Yle.

Vantaa recently banned such accessories due to a few cases involving balaclavas and religious coverings.

Turku also has a policy against face coverings, though incidents are rare.

Helsinki does not collect data or have official guidelines but resolves issues case-by-case.

Tampere, Espoo and Oulu report minimal use of face coverings and no need for bans or specific guidelines.

The Ministry of Education states that face covering in schools is not widespread nor causing major problems nationwide.
