Lapland Shivers: Tulppio Hits -41.4C as Finland Faces Deep Freeze | Finland Today | News in English

Today in Tulppio, Savukoski, Lapland, temperatures dropped to -41.4 Celsius and may fall even further throughout the day.

This marks the first time this winter that temperatures have dipped below 40C; while it doesn’t happen every year, it’s not uncommon in northern regions.

In other parts of Finland, typical January frost continues with temperatures at least as low as 10C.

Snowfall remains confined to the Swedish side due to persistent high pressure. In Turku and Pori, temperatures range from 9 to 10C; Hattula will experience lows below 20C; North Karelia could see temperatures drop to around 25C.
