LONDON
Ville Tavio (Finns), the minister for foreign trade and development, will visit London on February 23–24 to strengthen commercial and economic ties between Finland and the UK.
The focus of the visit is on security, defence and space technology. During his visit, he will meet with Jennifer Chapman, minister of state for development baroness, to discuss trade relations and UN development reform.
He will also hold talks with Chris Bryant, the minister of state for business and trade, about opportunities in critical technologies and current trade policy matters.
Minister Tavio is scheduled to speak at a business event showcasing Finnish expertise in space technology, as well as engage with Finnish companies and British stakeholders from the security, defence and space industries.
“The UK is an influential global player—a key partner, ally in security and defence matters, the world’s sixth largest economy, and an appealing market for Finnish businesses. Finland has much to offer the UK in critical technologies,” Tavio said in a government release.
Additionally, Tavio will meet Greg Guyett of the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) to discuss Finland’s collaboration with the bank regarding Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts.
