Finnish PM Orpo to Visit India, Highlight AI Cooperation and Strengthen Economic Ties | Finland Today | News in English

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo (NCP) will visit New Delhi, India, from February 17 to 20, accompanied by a business delegation representing 22 Finnish companies, according to a government press release.

During his visit, he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India on February 18 and participate in the India AI Impact Summit hosted by Modi on February 19. The summit brings together global leaders, international organizations, AI experts, and leading companies to promote international cooperation and governance in artificial intelligence.

Orpo will highlight Finland’s expertise in AI policy and innovation while advocating for the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence. He will deliver Finland’s address at the summit, tour country pavilions, speak at events organized by Sitra and NASSCOM, attend a dinner hosted by Modi, and participate in other high-level meetings.

Strengthening Finland-India Economic Relations

Economic ties between Finland and India continue to strengthen. The opening of the Finnish Consulate General in Mumbai in 2022 has further supported this development.

Finland aims to deepen its collaboration with India on digitalization and sustainability through a new strategic partnership.

Additionally, the EU-India Free Trade Agreement—finalized on January 27, 2026, after years of negotiation—will improve market access for European businesses in India while reinforcing EU-India relations.

The business delegation has representatives from Aquamec Ltd., Business Finland, CSC-IT Center for Science, ECHO Engineering Oy, Edugametion Oy, Elematic Oyj, Europe-Asia Roundtable Sessions Ltd., Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence / University of Helsinki, Flow Systems Oy, Helsinki Partners, ICEYE Oy, KONE Oyj, Nokia , Nordes Oy, Odd Latent Oy, ProVerse Interactive, Puustelli Group Oy, QMill Oy, ReOrbit, Routa Digital Oy, Verona Shelters Group and Wärtsilä Oyj Abp.
