Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen (NCP) is scheduled to visit Israel and the Palestinian territories from February 15 to 16.
During her trip, she will hold meetings in Jerusalem with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, as well as with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa in Ramallah.
Prior to this visit, Valtonen met with Palestinian Foreign Minister Varese Aghabekian at the Munich Security Conference on February 13.
Discussions will focus on Finland’s bilateral relations with both Israel and the Palestinian authority, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and current foreign and security policy matters—including the situation in the Middle East region and support for Ukraine.
“Finland’s long-standing policy is to support a two-state solution for a sustainable and peaceful settlement between Israel and the Palestinians. Discussions in Israel and the Palestinian territories support this goal and strengthen our bilateral dialogue with both Israel and the Palestinian Authority,” Foreign Minister Valtonen said in a government release.
During his trip, Minister Valtonen will also meet with representatives of civil society in the Palestinian territories and visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Center.
