Finland’s President Stubb to Strengthen Ties with India on Landmark 2026 State Visit Beginning Today | Finland Today | News in English

Finland’s President Alexander Stubb will pay a state visit to India from March 4 to 7, 2026.

On March 5 in New Delhi, he is scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and other leaders.

Their discussions will cover international politics, multilateral cooperation, Finland-India and India-Europe relations, commercial partnerships, regional Asian issues, and Russia’s war in Ukraine.

That same day, President Stubb will serve as guest of honour at Raisina Dialogue 2026—a major conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics organized by ORF and India’s Ministry of External Affairs—where he will deliver the opening address and participate in a panel discussion the following day. He is also set to engage with participants of the Raisina Young Fellows Programme.

During his stay in New Delhi, Stubb will lay a wreath at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial before proceeding to Mumbai.

On March 7 at the University of Mumbai, he will address students on multilateral cooperation amid global fragmentation. Later that afternoon he’ll take part in the Finland–India business dialogue focused on infrastructure development and economic ties. Meetings with local business leaders are also planned.

President Stubb’s delegation includes Climate Minister Sari Multala (NCP); Employment Minister Matias Marttinen (NCP); MP Timo Harakka (SDP); Espoo Mayor Kai Mykkänen (NCP); as well as business representatives from Elematic, Versowood, KONE, Nokia, Metso,Wärtsilä,Kempower, and others.

The last Indian presidential visit to Finland was made by Pranab Mukherjee in 2014. The previous Finnish presidential visit to India was by Martti Ahtisaari in 1996.
