Keep away: Fiji Ports warns public to stay away from LPG mooring areas

Fiji Ports Corporation Limited has issued a strong public warning following incidents of unauthorised access to the Fiji Gas LPG mooring areas at its seaside facilities in Suva and Lautoka.

The Corporation said the LPG mooring zones are restricted high-security areas due to the handling of hazardous cargo and the presence of critical maritime infrastructure.

Any unauthorised entry into these zones constitutes a serious security breach and poses significant safety risks to individuals and port operations.

Fiji Ports stressed that such actions not only endanger lives but also threaten the integrity of infrastructure vital to current and future port activities.

“The public is reminded that these areas are strictly off-limits,” the Corporation said, adding that any person found trespassing or attempting to access the facility without authorisation will be reported to the Fiji Police Force for investigation and possible legal action.

Members of the public are urged to respect all security boundaries, fencing, and warning signage around port facilities. Fiji Ports is also calling on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity near port areas to the relevant authorities.

The Corporation says public cooperation is essential to maintaining the safety, security, and operational integrity of Fiji’s ports, particularly in high-risk zones involving fuel and hazardous materials.
