Government working with shipping operators and fuel suppliers to ensure fuel supply in Taveuni

Fuel supply arrangements for Taveuni continue to be strengthened, with Government working closely with shipping operators and fuel suppliers to ensure households, businesses and essential services on the island are supported.

Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, reassured the people of Taveuni that Government understands the importance of maintaining reliable fuel supplies and is coordinating with all relevant stakeholders to ensure deliveries continue without unnecessary disruption.

As part of these efforts, a Pacific Energy fuel tanker departed Buca Bay this morning on a barge vessel bound for Taveuni to supplement existing fuel stocks.

Interlink Shipping Line Limited has also confirmed that its vessel OHANA will operate two scheduled voyages on the Suva-Savusavu-Taveuni route, departing Suva at 7pm today, and again at 7pm on Friday.

The services will support the movement of fuel and other essential cargo to the Northern Division.

Pacific Energy has confirmed that a fuel truck will be transported on OHANA this evening for the Suva to Savusavu voyage, before a 12-wheeler fuel truck continues onward to Taveuni to replenish supplies.

Two fuel trucks from Legends Fuel will also be transported to Taveuni, further boosting fuel availability on the island.

Ro Filipe has acknowledged Interlink Shipping Line Limited, Pacific Energy, Legends Fuel and all stakeholders involved for their cooperation in ensuring essential services continue.

He reaffirmed that Government will continue to monitor the situation closely and work with industry partners to maintain reliable fuel supply and maritime transport services for the people of Taveuni.
