Accused Remanded Over Alleged Cocaine Exhibit Tampering

The 51-year-old man accused of tampering with exhibits at the Suva High Court has been remanded in custody.

Jiuta Naivalurua faces one count of interfering with evidence and one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

He appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza at the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.

The case allegedly involves 39.5 kilograms of cocaine.

Magistrate Hamza refused bail after the prosecution raised concerns about the seriousness of the matter.

Investigations are continuing into the alleged involvement of other people.

The case has been adjourned to the 23rd of this month.
