Siteki police have arrested and charged a 46 year old man from Mdzangwini in Mbabane in connection with two house breaking and theft cases reported in the Siteki central business district.

According to a report from the Royal Eswatini Police Service, the suspect is accused of breaking into two shops in Siteki town and stealing property valued at more than E150 000. The incidents were reported on January 21 2026.

The first case was reported at about 0730 hours by a 22 year old shop owner from Siteki, who discovered that his business premises had been broken into after entry was gained through the roof. Property valued at E49 570 was stolen.

In a separate incident, a 30 year old clothing shop owner also reported a break in at his business. Police said entry was again gained through the roof and goods valued at E108 460 were stolen by an unknown person.

While investigations were continuing, police received a tip off on Thursday afternoon after information emerged about an individual selling school shoes in town. Officers followed up on the lead and arrested the suspect on January 22 2026 in the Siteki CBD, where most of the stolen property was recovered.

Police have since added a third count of house breaking and theft after linking the suspect to another case reported in the Jimba area under the Siphofaneni police precinct. In that matter, he is alleged to have broken into Jimba New Covenant Church by gaining entry through a window and stealing various electronic gadgets valued at E41 300.

The church break in was discovered on January 21 2026 at about 1700 hours.

The suspect appeared in court yesterday.
