BUHLENI – His Majesty King Mswati III has praised Libutfo from Hhohho Region for their dedication, discipline and commitment in carrying out Royal duties, urging them to continue responding in large numbers whenever they are summoned to serve the nation.
His Majesty delivered the message through Indvuna Masheshisa Kunene during the official dispersal of Libutfo (Kucitfwa Kwelibutfo) at Buhleni Royal Residence, following the successful completion of their Royal duties.
The King commended the warriors for executing their responsibilities with respect and love for Their Majesties from the beginning of their assignment until the final day.
The Hhohho Libutfo carried out various Royal duties, including harvesting Royal fields, kubhula and rehabilitating the Royal cattle kraal.
His Majesty said the dedication shown by the regiment demonstrated the values of Eswatini’s culture, including unity, hard work and respect for traditional institutions.
He encouraged the warriors that whenever the King summons Libutfo, they should continue coming out in large numbers to fulfil their responsibilities.
The dispersal ceremony started with Umgubho before the regiment officially concluded its period of service.
The event was filled with excitement as Libutfo added colour through different kugiya performances and traditional chants, creating a joyful atmosphere at the Royal Residence.
During the celebrations, the warriors sang, “Yembutfo ngitsi lokunganacudze khona kuyasa,” before responding with the energetic chant, “Kuyasa! Kuyasa!”
The ceremony marked the end of the Hhohho Libutfo’s Royal duties after their successful contribution towards activities at the Royal fields and other areas of responsibility.
During previous Libutfo dispersal ceremonies, His Majesty King Mswati III has highlighted the importance of preserving Eswatini’s cultural heritage, promoting food security and strengthening national unity.
At the Ngabezweni Royal Residence dispersal ceremony, following the completion of Royal duties, His Majesty praised Libutfo for their dedication and impressive harvest, stating that no liSwati should go hungry.
The King emphasised that the spirit of hard work and compassion shown in the Royal fields should extend to communities, encouraging Libutfo to assist with harvesting activities in chiefdoms, Royal Residences and households.
His Majesty also acknowledged the challenges posed by drought conditions and expressed gratitude for the rains that contributed to successful agricultural production. He urged Libutfo to uphold traditional values and pass them on to younger generations, describing the regiment system as an important part of Eswatini’s identity.
Through their service, the Hhohho Libutfo continues to demonstrate the importance of preserving Eswatini’s cultural heritage and strengthening the bond between the Monarchy and the nation.
