DATA BONUSES ROLLED OUT FOR BUGANU CELEBRATIONS

BY MBONO MDLULI

BUHLENI – As the nation gathers to celebrate Buganu in the heart of the Lubombo region, the country’s two leading mobile network operators have stepped forward with special data bonuses for members of the public.

Both MTN Eswatini and Eswatini Mobile have introduced limited-time offers aimed at keeping emaSwati connected during the festivities. The initiative is expected to enable revellers to share their Buganu moments instantly with friends and family across the country and beyond.

For MTN Eswatini subscribers, customers who purchase E10 airtime will qualify for a bonus of two gigabytes (2GB) of data. The data is valid until midnight on Saturday, February 28, 2026. To redeem the offer, consumers must load the E10 airtime and dial *686*1*2# to activate the bundle. The promotion provides an affordable way for customers to enjoy social media, messaging and video sharing throughout the celebrations.

Meanwhile, Eswatini Mobile customers will receive an even larger allocation. Subscribers who load E10 airtime will be rewarded with five gigabytes (5GB) of data, valid for 24 hours from the time of activation. Customers are required to dial *251# and follow the prompts that will guide them on how to get the data.

The offer is designed to give users ample opportunity to stream, post and connect without worrying about running out of data during peak moments of the event.

The Buganu ceremony, which draws thousands of people annually, has increasingly become a digitally shared cultural experience. From live videos and photographs to status updates and voice notes, connectivity plays a central role in allowing those who cannot attend physically to participate virtually.

By rolling out these data bonuses, the two telecommunications companies are not only promoting their services but also supporting cultural celebration and national unity. The move has been welcomed by many, particularly young people who rely heavily on mobile data to capture and share memories in real time.

As the festivities continue in Buhleni, emaSwati can now celebrate with the added assurance that staying connected will be both easier and more affordable.
