Eid weather alert: Egypt faces storms and atmospheric instability

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) issued an official forecast outlining a period of significant atmospheric instability beginning Saturday and persisting through Wednesday. The upcoming days are expected to feature varying weather phenomena, including fluctuating precipitation and high-velocity winds across the republic.

Short-term outlook

The EMA predicts continued instability across most regions on Saturday. Residents in the northern parts of the country should prepare for intermittent rainfall of varying intensities.

Additionally, the authority warned of a slight dip in temperatures, with mercury levels expected to drop by approximately 2°C to 3°C.

Wind and dust advisories

A key feature of this weather system is heightened wind activity. Forecasts indicate:

  • Wind speeds: Ranging between 30 and 50 km/h.

  • Dust impact: High probability of sand-laden winds and dust storms affecting North and South Upper Egypt, as well as the Red Sea Governorate.

  • Visibility: Commuters are advised to exercise caution in areas prone to blowing dust.

General climate conditions

Despite the instability, the general daily feel will transition from chilly early mornings to mild or warm afternoonsacross most provinces. However, temperatures will remain notably cold during the night and late-evening hours.

Mid-week forecast

Looking ahead to early next week, the EMA anticipates that wind activity will remain a dominant factor, occurring at intermittent intervals across the majority of the country through Wednesday.
