Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to a new immediate ceasefire during talks in Doha, Qatar’s foreign ministry said early Sunday, following more than a week of deadly clashes which continued despite an earlier truce.
CAIRO, Oct 20 (MENA) – Egypt on Monday welcomed a ceasefire agreement reached between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which also includes the establishment of a mechanism aimed at fostering lasting peace and stability between the two neighboring countries.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates expressed hope that the agreement would help end border tensions, stop bloodshed, and promote sustainable security and stability in the region.
The statement reaffirmed Egypt’s support for all initiatives and efforts aimed at resolving regional disputes through peaceful means, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy and constructive dialogue as the foundation for conflict resolution. (MENA)
