Does Israel dare to target Palestinian figures in Egypt?

In a decisive statement, Egyptian military expert Major General Samir Farag addressed the possibility of Israel targeting Palestinian figures within Egypt. In an interview with RT, Major General Farag asserted that Israel “would not dare” repeat the aggression it launched on Qatar on any part of Egyptian territory.

Farag’s firm remarks were: “Egypt will not stay silent if Israel even considers targeting anyone from Hamas on our soil. We won’t go to the UN to condemn or denounce; no, we are Egypt.” This was a clear indication that any Egyptian response would be different and decisive.

The strategic expert added that recent Israeli statements are for domestic consumption only and that “Israel and America know Egypt’s strength well and understand the capability and efficiency of the Egyptian army.”

The expert went on to state that the Israeli army has become “exhausted” after two years of “guerrilla warfare” in Gaza.

He explained that back in 2015, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi wanted to form a unified Arab force modeled after NATO. He clarified that Egypt’s Chief of Staff holds the position of Assistant Secretary-General for Military Affairs at the Arab League. If the joint Arab force were to be approved, it would be led by the Chief of Staff, or by an Egyptian officer with the rank of general, assisted by a Saudi deputy and a leadership council from all participating Arab nations.

Farag added that this joint Arab force would include all military branches, with its own command and general staff. Its composition would be proportional to each country’s size, and it would be deployed to defend any member state facing aggression. He noted that Egypt, with its military capabilities and experience, has the largest army and would contribute at least a division of 20,000 soldiers—a level of commitment no other nation would match.

He remarked that the timing of the President’s statement about the joint Arab force was “very correct and appropriate,” as it coincided with a significant Arab-Islamic summit. He lamented that a previous joint defense agreement had never been activated, and he expressed hope that the new force would be approved, as the Israeli aggression on Qatar had “exposed the extent of our need for this force.” He concluded that the hope of Egypt and the Arab world lies in unity and independence from relying on the United States or any other global power.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that Cairo had informed Washington that any attempts to target Palestinian factions in Doha would have “catastrophic consequences.”

Reports also confirmed that Egypt had issued a warning to Israel via the United States, following its strong condemnation of the “blatant Israeli aggression” against the State of Qatar. The attack, which targeted the political office of the Hamas movement in Doha, was described as a “flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter” and a “disregard for international rules and norms.”
