The Hurghada International Airport achieved an all-time high in daily operational capacity, recording 389 takeoffs and landings last Saturday.
This marks an 8.7 percent increase over its previous single-day record of 358 flight movements logged on November 1, 2025.
Passenger footfall surged past previous benchmarks, with the airport processing approximately 67,000 travelers compared to 56,641 during its previous record-setting day—an 18.3 percent year-on-year increase that outpaced the growth rate of flight operations.
Arrivals accounted for 33,500 passengers – a 24.1 percent jump – while departing passengers also hit 33,500 – up 13 percent.
Operational efficiency and peak readiness
The Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company, Aviator Wael al-Nashar, attributed the milestone to heightened operational efficiency and coordination across airport departments.
He noted that streamlined processing protocols and team readiness ensured uninterrupted flight schedules and swift handling while maintaining rigorous safety and security standards.
Winter season tourism surge
This record-setting performance coincides with the launch of Egypt’s winter tourism season, which historically brings a heavy influx of international charter and scheduled flights to Red Sea resort destinations.
The operational spike highlights Hurghada International Airport’s role as a major gateway supporting national efforts to expand Egypt’s tourism sector.
