Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi offered to host meetings to facilitate the settlement of the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) during a phone call with President Felix Tshisekedi on Wednesday.

Al-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s readiness to exert “every possible effort” to support the dispute settlement path, including providing the necessary venues for the concerned parties to meet, presidential spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said in a statement.

During the call, the Egyptian president welcomed the signing of the Doha Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the DRC government and the Congo River Alliance/M23 movement.

He also expressed Egypt’s full support for the peace agreement signed in Washington earlier this month (December 2025), describing it as a “crucial step” towards ending tension and enhancing security and stability in the Great Lakes region.

Tshisekedi expressed appreciation for Egypt’s support for stability efforts in his country. Both leaders agreed on the necessity of intensifying efforts to overcome any obstacles that might hinder the implementation of the peace deals.

On bilateral relations, Al-Sisi praised Tshisekedi’s recent attendance at the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and expressed his desire to host the Congolese president soon for a bilateral visit.
