The 2025 Egyptian Open Amateur Golf Championship will see a record number of participants and will, for the first time, feature a new seniors’ category and offer prize money, the Egyptian Golf Federation has announced.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from Oct. 16-18 at the Dreamland Golf Club in Cairo and will attract more than 60 players from 15 countries, including the United States, France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, and host country Egypt.
In a significant development for the championship, the federation will introduce a seniors’ category for players over 50, which is expected to draw more than 40 players from about 10 Arab and foreign countries.
“We are proud to launch the first-ever Egyptian Seniors’ Championship, giving golfers of all ages the opportunity to compete in an exceptional event that brings together experience and youth,” said Omar Hisham Talaat, president of the Egyptian Golf Federation. “This tournament is not just a sporting competition; it represents a significant boost for sports tourism in Egypt.”
He added: “The Egyptian Open is one of the oldest and most important golf tournaments in the Middle East and Africa since its inception in 1920. It is a recognized event in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and part of the Arab Golf Series (AGS), which enhances Egypt’s position as a leading destination for hosting international tournaments and confirms our commitment to expanding and developing the game.”
