Egyptian banks to close next Thursday for Revolution Day holiday

Egypt’s financial sector will observe a long weekend next week, as the Central Bank of Egypt announced that all banks operating in the country will close on Thursday, July 23, 2026, to mark the anniversary of the July 23 Revolution.

Transactions and regular banking services are scheduled to resume on Sunday morning, July 26.

The central bank’s directive follows a decree issued by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, designating Thursday as a fully paid holiday.

The government-mandated day off applies to employees across ministries, government offices, public authorities, local administration units, and state-owned enterprises.

While public offices and financial institutions will be closed, the government confirmed that any scheduled academic examinations will proceed as planned under the supervision of relevant educational authorities.
