Preliminary investigations have revealed that a drone caused a fire on two ships at Egypt’s Damietta port on July 29, the Egyptian cabinet said.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident, the cabinet noted in a statement.

Relevant authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the full circumstances surrounding the event and are taking the necessary measures to preserve Egypt’s interests and national security.

A fire broke out on a regasification ship and a storage vessel at Egypt’s Damietta port, with no injuries or human casualties reported, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said on Wednesday.
