Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Monday that any agreement with Iran will preserve Tel Aviv’svital interests, noting that he has held talks with US President Donald Trump. Netanyahu added that Trump believes the achievements of the war can be leveraged into a deal with Tehran.
Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance spoke by phone Monday morning with Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss efforts to open negotiations with Iran, according to Axios citing an informed source. The source stated that Vance and Netanyahu discussed the terms of a potential agreement to end the war.
President Donald Trump stated that Iran has a ‘final opportunity to end its threats to the United States,’ while confirming that ongoing talks with Tehran are ‘very good’ and carry positive indicators toward reaching an agreement.
Since the conflict escalated on February 28, Israel has conducted precision strikes on Iranian military infrastructure, which Netanyahu now views as “leverage” to force Tehran into a permanent non-aggression pact.
The involvement of JD Vance signifies a shift toward formalizing the 15-point peace plan, as the U.S. administration seeks to secure Israel’s approval before finalizing any deal that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
