The National Seismic Network stations, under the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) in Egypt, recorded a 5.12-magnitude earthquake on Saturday, located 466 kilometers northwest of Marsa Matrouh, RT Arabic reported.

According to data from the institute, the tremor occurred at exactly 12:27 PM Cairo time, measuring 5.12 on the Richter scale. The earthquake was located at latitude 34.71° N and longitude 24.25° E, at a depth of 44.80 kilometers.

NRIAG stated that the earthquake was not felt within Egyptian territory and resulted in no casualties or property damage.

Egypt is situated near tectonically active zones, particularly the Hellenic Arc and Cyprus—regions responsible for most of the earthquakes felt by residents in coastal governorates and Cairo.
