Sixty-two women rescued and three people arrested during a large-scale operation against alleged aggravated pimping in Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata — The Puerto Plata Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with the National Police, carried out a large-scale operation early Sunday morning in several locations throughout the province, where several businesses under investigation for alleged aggravated pimping and commercial exploitation of women were raided and shut down.

According to preliminary data obtained by InfoENN – El Nuevo Norte, 62 women were rescued during the operation, and three people were arrested, who will be investigated for their alleged connection to the activities detected by the authorities.

The operation covered the areas of Puerto Plata, Sosúa, Cabarete, Cangrejos, and Sabaneta de Yásica, where investigative units carried out raids on commercial establishments and boarding houses as part of a coordinated action against alleged structures involved in this type of illicit practice.

Among the businesses raided were a car wash in Sabaneta de Yásica, El Secreto in Cabarete, La Choza in Puerto Plata, and Río Verde in the Cangrejos area. According to preliminary reports, these establishments have been temporarily closed while the investigation continues.

Authorities also reportedly raided at least three boarding houses, where evidence was collected, and possible links to the ongoing investigation were checked.

So far, the identities of those arrested and a full list of the evidence seized during the raids have not been officially released. The Public Prosecutor’s Office is expected to provide further information in the coming hours and determine the appropriate legal measures.

The case remains under investigation by the Special Prosecutor’s Office and the acting police agencies, which are seeking to establish the extent of criminal responsibility of those arrested and the owners or managers of the establishments involved.
