Mango producers will receive RD$64 million

During Peña’s meeting with mango producers, accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruz, they discussed strengthening support for the agricultural sector and promoting agricultural development in the southern region.

“Look, the most important thing here is you, the producers, and listening to you. That’s why we came here on behalf of President Abinader. It’s extremely important to us. Because following up on what you’ve been doing with so much effort and being able to receive that support from the Government,” she said.

The meeting was part of the Expo Mango 2025 Fair, which takes place in Central Park, Baní, where agro-producers exhibit various varieties of this fruit and showcase advances in its production and management.

Along with the approval of RD$64 million at zero interest rate through the Agricultural Bank for financing, he also committed to managing the renegotiation of other outstanding amounts and immediately paying a debt of RD$3 million, approximately US$44,000 in this sector.

He explained that the Government is working on identifying new international markets to export the surplus of mango production.

Minister Limber Cruz announced that Baní is part of the 21 territories in the country identified as suitable for grape cultivation, and that Bagrícola will finance 40 producers selected to initiate a pilot planting plan.

In San Cristóbal, Peña delivered the Community Housing Center in Cañada Honda and 40 furnished houses to families affected by hurricanes Georges, Olga, and Noel, which occurred between 1998 and 2007.

Robert Polanco, Director of Strategic Projects at the Presidency (Propeep), explained that these houses, measuring 44 square meters, feature a terrace, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom.

In Baní, the vice president visited Bishop Faustino Burgos, an activity that, like others she attended, had been arranged by President Luis Abinader.
