INTERPOL Santo Domingo arrests Albanian fugitive tied to European drug network

Santo Domingo.- The National Police, through the INTERPOL Santo Domingo National Central Bureau (NCB), arrested Albanian citizen Soni Pepa, 40, who was wanted by judicial authorities in his country under Red Notice No. A-11907/8-2025 for alleged involvement in international drug trafficking.

Pepa is linked to an 11-ton cocaine shipment, including 600 kilograms seized in Rotterdam, Netherlands, in November 2020, and financing another 10 kilograms in the same city. International reports indicate he belonged to a transnational criminal network operating in Europe and South America, using Paraguay’s Villetas port as a departure point for shipments bound for Belgium.

He was arrested on Wednesday, September 3, in the National District, carrying an Albanian passport, several Italian documents, five encrypted cell phones, and cash. Following his capture, he was handed over to the General Directorate of Immigration for deportation proceedings in coordination with OCN-INTERPOL Santo Domingo.
